Intimate Elopement in the Scottish Countryside

When Frances and Tom started discussing their day of tying the knot, they knew immediately that a traditional big wedding wasn't for them.I met with Frances in a cafe she ran at the time, we sat down over a cup of coffee and she could't b more excited about a wedding ceremony surrounded by her nearest and dearest, somewhere serene and beautiful, to reflect their relationship and the beautiful country that it started in. I heard words such as 'relaxing', 'low-key', 'remote', and knew immediately this day was going to be extra special.

The day of the ceremony came, with characteristically Scottish weather and electric excitement in the air. We hiked up the beautiful Kirkton Glen with incredible views of Balquhidder and Loch Voil. There's always a quiet stillness in the air before a ceremony, laced with anticipation. This feeling is so beautiful to witness and capture, and it feels as if the whole world stops for a moment to make space for what's about to come.

Elopement in Scotland

As the first trumpet notes filled the air, time seemed to stand still. The bride emerged, radiant and composed, her steps in sync with the music. You could feel the emotions swirling around everyone present - quiet tears, soft smiles, and those glances that meant:' We’ll remember this forever'. In a traditional Scottish fasting ceremony, the couple exchanged vows and rings, their hands bound together in a timeless gesture. A beautiful blend of ancient tradition and something personal. After the ceremony, clouds of confetti burst into the sky, while Tom and Frances stepped into their new chapter, surrounded by love, music, and the magic of the moment.

After the ceremony, everyone slowly made their way back to the cottage, chatting and laughing as we walked. There was this lovely energy of happiness lingering in the air. We gathered around to cut the cake as the rain started outside. It made everything feel even cosier, like the world had tucked us in for the evening. It was simple, joyful, and exactly how a celebration like this should feel.
